"Why?" Ari asked. He was going over possibilities in his head, all of them linking to Tempest in danger. That seemed like the only thing that could really get to Scarlet, but he didn't really know. After all he had only known her for a few hours. He turned himself toward her, still slouching, eyebrows perched up in a questioning manner.

She let out a breath she had been holding in unknowingly, "I've experienced it before.... In my very own family."
Scarlet hesitated a moment before continuing, "It was about 3 years ago, and Tempest was only 9. My mother basically fell to the unrelenting buzzing noise in her head, she became crazed and attempted to kill us several times. Then there would be times where she was calm, and she would be in pieces for what she had tried to do. Until the time she completely lost it.... Like that woman we saw."
She bit her lip, tearing into it's soft flesh, "Tempest didn't deserve to see what happened... He didn't need to see all that blood... He was only a little boy." The blood drained a small amount into her mouth, substituting for the tears she fought back at such bitter memories.

After chewing over what Scarlet told him, he turned his headphones off, placed his iPod in his backpack, and then leaned over, putting his elbows on his knees. Ari stayed like that for a few minutes, realizing that this disease was something to be worried about. "Scarlet?" He said, glancing up. "What really happened to your mother?"

Scarlet tasted the blood, the metallic taste running across her tongue. Furrowing her eyebrows, she looked directly over at Ari.
"I had to end it... Don't blame me... Please, I know I'm a murderous freak... It's just, she had a knife, and... Tempest... and stabbing... I broke her freaking neck, okay?" Her answer was jumbled, but direct, and she hid her face in her lap afterward. A tear slipped out of either eye and into her lap. At least he couldn't see her cry, or at least she thought he couldn't.

Ari’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “You killed her?” His voice was shocked, dripping with horror of the realization that she could kill any of them in the park at any given time. He could fuck people up badly, whip ass if he wanted to, but he would never go as far as to kill anybody. Ari glanced down at Scarlet, who looked like she was freaking out, crying even, and he forced the shock out of his voice. “Scarlet, I…..I’m sorry. “
He looked over at Kyle and Tempest, who were busing boarding. In an extremely pathetic way of trying to cheer her up, he scooted closer to her and slung his arm around her shoulders waiting for a reaction. “It’s okay, because you did what you had to do. I would do the same thing.”

"You sound shocked... I didn't want to, I never want to, it was for my brother. She tried to kill him, and almost killed me in the process. I have a huge dented scar in my back where you can feel her stab that almost killed me. Tempest is my main priority, even though he thinks I'm over controlling, I won't EVER let him go." Her voice was calm, almost strangely emotionless. The arm around her shoulders was comforting, even if she thought it may look wierd to their brothers.
She brought her head up a bit, "And thanks.... For understanding somewhat." The tears that had dripped off of her face had dried, leaving that wierd salty streak behind. Putting her head back down, she tried to relax and get back to normal. She didn't even know why she was showing this emotion to someone she'd only known for a small amount of time. It was... foreign to her.
Scarlet turned her head sideways in her lap, staring at the tree next to the bench with a questioning glaze over her eyes.

"Anytime you need," Ari said with a small smile on his face. He looked up towards the sky, and realized that it was getting late. "God....damn." All of his happiness vanished, replaced by dead serious, tough-as-nails Ari. Not the happy-go-lucky sap Ari that he had been for the past few hours. It was time to turn into the pissed, shut-the-fuck up Ari. He had to be this way, otherwise his parents would give both of them shit, and they wouldn't leave them alone. If he acted like he wasn't going to take crap from them, they wouldn't dish it out.
"I have to go." He said, tensed up. He hated going back to his parents. For obvious reasons. His parents were drug addicts. Way worse than he was. They wouldn't stop to get weed, or alcohol ,or acid. Anything.

Scarlet sat up, his arm around her tensed a bit, she didn't pay heed to it. Blinking, she realized that Tempest was probably done for the night too, he was crashing more then usual. She probably shouldn't of kept him up this late. Grabbing the sandwich she had bought for both Tempest and her, she stretched her arms.
"Okay, I should probably get going too. Tempest looks spent for the night." She paused, "Are you okay though? You seem rather tense..."
It was strange how she could be so normal after such a tense conversation. However, she looked at Ari with a serious gaze, wanting to know what was up with him turning serious like this.

Ari shrugged his arm off from around her. He was totally open to listening to others problems, but he wasn't that open to sharing his issues with someone. The last time that happened.....he couldn't really remember. He didn't like sharing problems. "Um..." He met her eyes, and loosened up a bit to get her suspicion off of him. Ari grinned, hoping this would stop her in her tracks. "Nothing, just the accident, you know." He lied smoothly, because lying was something he was good at.
He stood up. "Hey, Kyle!" He shouted, cupping his hands together. "Come on!"

Scarlet stood up, an slight smirk spreading across her lips. Ari had good lying form, a loose posture and casual look, but his lying excuse was horrible. How? They had just cleared everything about the accident up basically. However, she wouldn't push him. She may have been stupid enough to let her past slip, but Scarlet didn't mind if he really didn't want to talk about it.
"Tempest! You get your ass over here too kid, we're going home. And you better not be too tired, I have food for you!" He skated over, laughing. She jumped on her skateboard and took a glance back at the other two, "Bye."
Wow, a really elaborate farewell, is it not? Scarlet pushed off, skating after Tempest, who was already a bit ahead of her.

Ari was glad when she let it slip. He and Kyle sped home after gathering up their stuff, and that night concluded to be a pretty mellow one. Well, for Kyle. All he did was curl up in the room that Ari and him shared and sleep the night away. Ari, on the other hand, stressed as he was, had to take it out. So, being the kind of person he was, he got high.
And not by himself, with his parents. His parents were only ever nice to him when he got high with them, but he didn't mind, because, you know, he was high then. It was sometime around two o'clock in the morning, and Ari and his parents were sitting in the front of the lot that they owned. He was sprawled in a couch, his feet kicked up, and his parents were in lawn chairs across from him. There was a small fire going in between, and Ari grinned a high induced smile.
"You have any fruit loops?" His mother drawled.
"Fuck fruit loops. Why the hell do you want fruit loops?!" His father shouted, anger directed at no one in particular.
"Cus," Ari said, taking a draw on a joint, then blowing the smoke up. His head spun, and he felt like he was flying. All of his emotions were out the door, except a constant buzz of happiness from the high. "Fruit loops are the SHIT when you're high!"
He and his mom exchanged red eyed glances, and then cracked up like hyenas. Super loud for two in the morning. His dad took a joint Ari's mom passed him, and it was calm. Then suddenly police sirens from far away made both of his parents slam into the ground and duck under the lawn chairs.
"I didn't do it!" His dad shouted.
Ari rolled his eyes, taking the last draw from his joint and then neatly slid the bag of weed in a hole dug underneath the couch. He breathed out slowly, letting the high get to him, and then looked up at the starry sky. "Ahh..." His jumbled mind went through the events of yesterday, and he half wondered about the car crash, then about Tempest and Kyle, and then Scarlet.

Scarlet slumped onto her couch in an untidy mess. The springs in it poked into her back, but she was used to it, the couch being well worn and all. She blew the hair that settled over her nose out of her face and stared blankly at the wall. Then her eyes dwelled, dwelling to the place in the room where it had happened. Where she had finally ended it for her derranged mother. The blood that had pooled on the floor there had been scrubbed clean from it, but if you looked closely enough, you could see the smallest specks of it in the divets in the tile.
Her face contracted in a pained look, and her eyes raced away. A hand flew to her face, and squeezed it, hard. Scarlet's eyes were wide open, her face shaping it's way to an expression that just oozed self hate.
Grabbing a pair of scissors on the table nearby, she flipped them open and carved into her arm like some kind of Thanksgiving turkey. She carved and carved, her hate for herself gushing out in the form of blood. When she could no longer cut for fear of bleeding out, she stopped. Only for Tempest. Only for him would she bear not to end it. Scarlet hated herself, absolutely hated herself.
Her mother had been one of the most caring and friendly before she had gone insane, and Scarlet had ended that without even hoping for a cure.
She was a monster.

Ari woke up a few hours earlier with the feel of the sun burning into him. "Ugh," He suddenly sneezed, which woke him fully up. He sat up, rubbing his eyes and blinking around, the sunlight bright and white hot. Standing up, he stretched, then shaded his eyes as he looked around for his parents. He spotted them curled around each other under the lawn chairs, where they had ducked in fear of the cops. He curled his lip in disgust that those two could be so loving and caring to each other but act like monsters to Kyle.
He shuddered in disgust at himself. He was such a hypocrite. Ari stomped out the still smoking join, suddenly hating the way he took out his stress. He stumbled back to the house, not even bothering to help his parents up. He pushed the door aside, then collapsed on the floor of Kyle and his room yawning loudly. "
Kyle was already up and dressed, and from the looks of it had gotten a good nights sleep. "Skate park?" He inquired.
"Can I get myself awake first?" Ari chuckled. "I need a shower," I smell like weed. He left that sentence unfinished. "We can go after, ok?"

Scarlet woke up early, to the sound of her alarm clock in the distance. Her arms were still covered in her own blood, and Tempest would probably be awake soon. Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit. Jumping up, she quickly threw the scissors under the couch and made sure none of her blood had leaked onto the furniture. She ran to the bathroom and washed of her arms, the only thing remaing the raised, nasty scabs.
Going to a pile of clothes that she had untidily stacked her clothes into, she grabbed a white long sleeved shirt, stripped hastily, and put the new fabric on. Scarlet sighed in relief, safe for now. Which was a good thing, seeing as in the silent house, she heard the squeak of Tempest's bed as he got up. Said brother walked into the living room, rubbing his eyes like an adorable little five year old.
"Morning..." He yawned out.
She smiled at him, "Morning little one. You're in luck, I don't have to work today. Should we get some breakfast before we go to the skatepark?" Scarlet immediately assumed that they would go to the skatepark, it was routine for them.

Ari showered, dressed, and they fled to the skate park. He propped his board up, since he decided to ride it today, and sat down on the bench, stretching again. His parents were out of work, and they had a lot of.....eh, green, so he was going off to 'work' today after he knew Tempest and Scarlet would be here with Kyle.
His backpack, with the weed in it, was next to his skateboard, and he crossed his arms, drifting off a bit. Damn was he tired.
